Warner Bros. reveals that James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will arrive on VOD platforms next week and on 4K Ultra-HD, Blu-ray and DVD in October. The latest film in the DC Extended Universe acts as a follow-up to David Ayer’s similarly titled 2016 film and sees the returns of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. It also features an ensemble roster of DCEU newcomers, some of whom include Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2, Sylvester Stallone as King Shark and David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man.

The Suicide Squad sees Amanda Waller building a new Task Force X and assigning them with heading to the fictional South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy evidence of the mysterious Project Starfish. The film first hit theaters and HBO Max in early August and has been considered a hit by the studio, becoming the second-best reviewed installment in the DCEU behind the first Wonder Woman and the third-most-streamed film to debut on HBO Max, though somewhat underperforming at the box office with only $162 million grossed against its $185 million budget. Gunn is already expanding his relationship with WB and DC Films with the spin-off series Peacemaker centered on Cena’s character of the same name and has hinted at returning for more in the near future.

On the heels of its departure from HBO Max, WB has announced that The Suicide Squad will officially come to premium video-on-demand platforms on September 17 followed by hitting shelves on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on October 26. The studio has also revealed the special features included on the former two versions of the physical release, some of which include a blooper reel, a breakdown of some of the film’s most iconic sequences and specialized trailers depicting the film as a number of genres.
