Chris Pratt, who portrays Star-Lord, trends on Twitter after Marvel Studios fans discuss who might be the one to die in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe got actor Chris Pratt trending after they started discussing who might die in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Marvel Studios has been dominating the news this year, with Phase 4 finally in full swing after being delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They have recently released Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which has come out to critical acclaim. To date, there have been 25 MCU films and four Disney+ shows, with many more to release in the coming years.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s plot is currently unknown. It will star Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, and Sean Gunn as Kraglin. The team, minus Gamora, was last seen at the end of Avengers: Endgame with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor on the Guardians’ ship. They will be showing up in Thor: Love and Thunder, which comes out before Vol. 3, but not many details have been revealed on how big their roles will be. After that, they will appear in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+ before their third film. Many have speculated that the third movie will follow the team finding Gamora and where she went after Endgame.
Now, MCU fans are discussing who could potentially die in Vol. 3. On Twitter, Chris Pratt’s name is under the trending tab, specifically because an old comment from director James Gunn was brought up where he stated that someone would die in Vol. 3. Most fans are saying that Star-Lord could be the one to die, with others voicing their opinions saying it could be Drax or Rocket instead.
Of course, there is no real way to know which member of the Guardians will die in the third film yet, if any do. Marvel is notorious for not spoiling events that take place in the movies and shows as to not ruin the surprise, so this could be a bit of misdirection. However, Gunn could also have said that to build up hype and tease a heartbreaking story that MCU fans will get. Killing off Star-Lord would be a bold move from Marvel. There have also been discussions and theories around Drax dying, so he is a likely candidate too. Bautista has also talked about how he thinks Drax’s story is over after the Vol. 3, so that also feeds into this theory. Gunn has also discussed his desire to tell more of Rocket’s story, so some fans think that this could all lead to his death too.
This film is surely going to be an emotional one for the Marvel fans. With this potentially being the last Marvel film Gunn does, it is unclear if the story of the ragtag group will continue after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Until its release, fans will have to theorize and watch the Guardians’ upcoming appearances to get some sort of idea.
